Organic Coconut Oil – Coconut oil is a vegetable oil that has many benefits for human life. This oil can be used as a food ingredient and as a skin and head care product. Like other natural products, coconut oil comes in organic and conventional forms. Organic coconut oil products must have EU, USDA, JAS, SNI, Australian Certified Organic organic certificates, etc. Usually, this oil is used to make organic food products such as cooking oil, butter, creamer, and shortening. Meanwhile, conventional coconut oil products are usually used for skin, face, and hair care products. Coconut oil that has organic certification is usually in the form of Virgin Coconut Oil and RBD Coconut Oil. These two coconut oils have different forms and functions according to usage needs.
Two Organic Coconut Oil
Virgin coconut oil or VCO is coconut oil produced by extracting coconut milk from old coconut meat. VCO is one of the pure coconut oils that does not undergo purification, clarification, and deodorization. The clear white color of VCO can be an indicator that this oil is indeed the purest coconut oil. Apart from that, VCO is still slightly identical to the aroma of coconut, although it is not very pronounced.
Pure coconut oil is the main raw material for skin and facial care products such as sunscreen and moisturizing lotion. Many beauty product manufacturers use virgin coconut oil because of its purity, so it is not harmful to the user’s skin. Its natural properties can nourish and brighten the skin, besides that, it can also make the scalp free from dandruff.
Refined Oil
If VCO does not undergo purification, then RBD Coconut Oil is the opposite of Virgin Coconut Oil. RBD Coconut Oil is coconut oil that undergoes a process of refining, bleaching, and deodorizing. Initially, refined coconut oil was in the form of dried coconut fruit which was then extracted into coconut oil. The refining process for coconut oil aims to remove the coconut smell from the oil. Apart from that, it is also used to clarify and clean coconut oil from impurities during the production process.
RBD Coconut Oil has a saturation level (ed) of 0.2, 0.4, 0.6, 0.8 and 1.5. The lower the number, the clearer the color of RBD Coconut Oil, while the higher the number, the clearer the yellow color. Refined oil with red 0.2 and 0.4 is used as raw material for daily consumption products such as soap, shampoo, and medicine. Meanwhile, RBD Coconut Oil red 0.6, 0.8, and 1.5 are the raw materials for cooking oil.
